After the long drive -with good music and DJing, courtesy of Nathan- Isabella's silver BMW convertible rolled across the border into Mexico. The border guard had been a pain, taking extra long to check things over, and bordering on harassment to Isabella. If Nathan hadn't been there she might have been in trouble. But she'd laughed it off afterwards. Not a big deal. Besides, she was dressed -as always- to kill. Her hair was pulled back in a high ponytail ontop of her head, and she wore a white sundress that clung tight, but was still airy and flirty.
The drive had been nicer from that point on, the scenery improving, and her mood along with it. She was glad Nathan had come too, they'd been able to chat and joke around comfortably for the whole drive, and were still in good spirits despite the late hour. She looked over at him as they drove into the small city she'd chosen for their stay, smiling brightly.
"What do you want to do first, eat...well I'm starving, so food first, but then we could check out our hotel, or we could go to the beach"
It was dark out at this point, but that wasn't about to deter her from the beach. Hopefully it wouldn't deter Nathan either.

The drive was long, but in no way was it boring. Things were a little uncomfortable at the border, but the fact that she could laugh about it made Nathan feel more at ease. He figured it was probably best not to try to start anything with the border patrol, and thankfully the need hadnt really arosen. He was rather just a very annoying lonely man.
It was no doubt he must look funny next to her. She was hot, steamy, sexy, whatever you want to call it, but his attire was the opposite of hers. His black t-shirt was paired with the usual dark jeans and converse. He had left behind the gloves, that was a habbit that he could go without for a few days. He was just wondering what stares they were going to get later when people compared his dark rocker style to her fun flirty style. It still amazed him that a girl like her would show any interest in a guy like him, but he was glad she did.
What was even going to be stranger for him was that he was actually going to wear swimming trunks on the beach. No t-shirt, no dark jeans, just his blue swimming trunks. It would be odd, but that was beach attire.
"You invited me, so I'll do whatever you want to do," he said, leaning over so that she could hear him over the soft wind that the convertable made. It didnt matter to him, they could check out the hotel, which would be the smart thing to do at night, or they could go to the beach, with was actually fun at night.

"Beach then. We'll order room service for dinner when we go back to the hotel."
Which would be probably almost midnight by the time they got to their room, but oh well. She certainly didn't care, and the hotel staff were there to work, so it shouldn't be a problem to them either. She was paying them after all. And she always tipped well. She drove through the city, and by some inner road map, found a beach fairly quickly. The road was on a steep hill above the beach, and she parked at the curb, putting the top up on the car and turning off the ignition.
She stretched, tucked the keys into her beach bag, and got out of the car.
"There aren't any change rooms...but you can change in the car."
She had known what she would want to do when they arrived, and had dressed accordingly. She untied the lace at the back of her neck and stripped the dress off, tossing it into the car. Underneath she was wearing the dark red bikini she had bought with Alexia. It tied at the neck, and at her hips, and served to make the most of her toned, athletic body. She had bought a new bellybutton ring to match, a silver one with a red jewel -fake, of course- and a small dangly star. She kicked off her shoes and tossed them into the car as well, then picked up her beach bag -matching, of course- and slung it over her shoulder. She then politely averted her eyes and wandered to the top of the wooden stairs that led down to the beach, and waited.

"Sounds good," he said with a smile. He tilted his head back and let the wind rustle through his hair and he stuck his arm on the outside of the car, resting his elbow on the door. The night felt pretty good today. He was so far really glad that he had agreed to come.
He ran his hand through his hair as the car came to a stop. It was basically a habit for him, something that he did oddly frequently. He stepped out of the car, even though she had told him to use it as a changing room. Really he was already in his swim trunks. It was either wear those or boxers under his pants, and it would just be easier for him to wear those.
He couldnt undress in the car, that would have been far to hard for him seeing as he was on the tall side. It was easier to pull the clothes off outside of the car where he had room to move.
As he stood outside of the car, he quickly removed his shoes, by stepping on the back of the heels with the opposite foot, he had become a pro with that. The rest of his clothes came next. He piled the his clothes up and sat them in his seat. He did feel a bit awkward. He was usually the type to be completely covered and here he was in nothing but blue swimming trunks. He felt so white, since he had barely let sun get to parts of his body and he only hoped it wasnt blinding for her.
He saw her heading towards the wooden stairs that ended on the beach and ran, well rather jogged, to catch up with her. He slowed down as he caught up to her and slipped his arm around her shoulders. This wasnt in an intimate way, but more like a friendly way, or so he played it off. He did that with alot of his friends, dont ask him why, he's not normal.

Isabella was surpised by the casual way Nathan's arms slipped around her shoulders, and she tipped her head to smile at him. No, it probably didn't mean anything more than friendship. Still, people didn't usually touch her just for the sake of affection. It was nice. Again, he made her feel valued and protected. She was very glad he'd come along.
She made her way down the stairs with him at her side, visibly more relaxed than she had been since stepping onto the plane in the Barcelona airport. She hadn't even noticed that she'd been stressed, and she doubted anyone else had either, but now that she was here, breathing in the clean ocean air, her feet only steps away from soft sand, and her mind happily back in it's native language, the difference was noticeable. She was happier. Far happier. She hadn't even known she'd missed Spain this much until she arrived here. It wasn't the people she missed, there was no one to miss, after all, but the culture, the food, the language. All of that meant more to her than any person ever had since her mother had died.
When her feet touched the sand, she couldn't contain her happiness anymore, so she pulled away and swatted him playfully.
"You're it."
And with that, she took off running down the beach. Nathan, though he had a very nice body, didn't look like someone who did a lot of running. So good luck to him, because he'd just been challenged to catch the star of the soccer team. Her long legs ate up the ground easily, and she ran for the simple joy of running, tossing a glance back over her shoulder to see if he was coming.

Nathan was actually getting excited as he drew nearer and nearer to the sand. He, for once, couldnt wait to step onto the beach, something new for him. The beach was usually a place he avoided, but maybe the mere fact that he was here with Isabella was enough to make him want to be on a beach.
Nathan let out a laugh as Isabella brought out the old game of tag. Boy was he glad that he was fit from having to dance around on stage with his guitar. It had helped him with his lung coppasity (so spelled wrong, I realize) so he knew he wouldnt have any troubles with being out of breath. His only problem was that he didnt know how fast he could run, since he had never really done it before, but it was worth a try.
He took off quickly after her, digging his barefeet into the sand as he pushed off with each step. Wow was she fast. He had to dig down deep just to find the speed to catch up with her. It amazed him how fast he could go, though he'd be shocked if he could stand after this.
When he got close enough to what he thought was a comfortable distance, he took a chance. The only thing he could think of to stop her would to jump and basically tackle her, though he knew the sand would cousion it so it wouldnt hurt her. So he did it, he jumped out, completely making himself airborn, hoping that he would be able to grab her. Who knows, she may have been able to quickly get away from him, but he sure hoped not because he didnt have the engergy cells to try to catch up to her again.

She was glad he'd actually chased her. Some guys might have just stood there and watched her go, thus making her look stupid. Tag was fun, she loved playing it. She loved anything that involved a lot of running actually. The sand was soft, and it felt nice to run on. She didn't normally run barefoot, mostly because if she was actually going to run for a long time she needed the support of her ankle brace and good running shoes. Much more of the tag would definetly do damage.
She was caught completely off guard when his body flew into hers. The last thing she'd expected to happen was to be tackled, so she went down easily, landing in the soft sand with a soft 'oof' on the impact.
Such a landing sent sand everywhere, but she didn't care one bit. Especially because she was now sprawled in the sand with Nathan half ontop of her. They were an untidy pile, having landed rather haphazardly. But it hadn't hurt at all, so she simply laughed, smiling up at him.
"Well you definetly caught me."
What now? It was completely up to him, since he was lying on her. He could kiss her, the way most boys would, and the way this game usually played out. Or he could let her up and they could explore some more. Either would be completely fine with her.

Nathan laughed as the momentum of his body weight drug her into the sand with him. He was actually quite proud of himself for catching up with her, he didnt think he'd actually be able to do it. He was never really much of a runner, just an insane dancer, or atleast that's what his friends called him.
"I guess I did," he said softly with a laugh. He was literally close to her now. He could just flat out kiss her now, and she wouldnt have the time to stop him. He almost did too. He came extremely close to kissing her, his lips stopping only centimeters from hers. But the thing was that he stopped. He let out a sigh and shook his head. He couldnt do it. Oh did he want to, dont get him wrong, but he felt bad taking advantage of the moment like that. He really hated being the nice guy.
He pushed himself up to his feet and lowered his hand to help her up. "Come on, lets see what all they have on this beach," he said with a smile, trying to blow over what had just happend. He felt bad about basically chickening out of kissing her, but he would have felt worse had he actually kissed her. He felt like it would be taking advantage of her, and he didnt want her to feel obligated to have to kiss him back.

Isabella's breath caught in her throat and her gaze fixed on his as his mouth came within a breath of hers. The tension mounted, and he was so close. It would have been so easy to close the distance, so easy to just end the suspense and kiss him. But she found that she couldn't do it. Which surprised her. She had never hesitated to kiss anyone before, had never cared about who her mouth met and who she had flings with. But maybe that was the problem here. She did care this time. She liked him a lot and she didn't want to mess things up, and she didn't want to hurt him. The last was basically a given, she hurt everyone, and she had secrets that were not easy to bear. In her heart she knew that nothing could come of them together. It would be too dangerous, and she didn't want to risk it.
She could breathe again when he stood and offered his hand, his kindness and actual caring towards her making her want to cry. She sat up slowly, and had to shake her head to clear her mind. She took his hand and let him pull her up, smiling softly. Never before had a guy actually taken the time to be nice to her, and she found her heart aching from memories and from wanting, but mostly from regret.
"Good idea."
She was grateful for him once again salvaging the situation, and she slipped her hand into his hand lightly, and set off to explore the beach with him at her side. It was a sandy beach, so there wouldn't be much tidepool life, but maybe they would find some interesting seashells or a jellyfish or something.

So a situation had been just narrowly avoided, but that was probably the best thing to happen. Now there was nothing stopping them from having a good time tonight on the beach. If he had given into temptation, the rest of the night may have ended up being awkward for the both of them. He didnt want to take that chance.
Nathan smiled warmly as he felt her hand slide into his. His heart seemed to skip a beat and the goosebumps returned. How could it be that, even after this really short time, he was developing feelings for her. He was begining to really care for her, care what happened to her.
He looked out at the water, it seemed so peaceful. Maybe there was something. They were both in swimsuits on a beach, why not test the water. He pulled ahead of her a bit, tugging for her to follow, looking back at her with a smile. He stepped into the water, squishing his toes in the wet sand and looked back at her to see if she was actually going to follow him into the water.

She was only too pleased when he tugged her in the direction of the water. She loved water, and would swim in even the coldest water. Growing up she had been called 'little fish' often, because she just couldn't keep out of the water for long. So she followed him eagerly, loving the feel of the waves lapping around her legs as she waded in.
It was peaceful out here on the beach at night. There was no one around and it was just them and the water and sand and it was nice. She felt the tension from the moments before slide easily away, and knew that for now at least, everything would be okay.
There would be more moments like that, of course. There always were when two people who were attracted to one another chose to resist that attraction. But so far they had managed to get through them alright, with very little awkwardness. She took it as a good sign.
Her hand in his felt good, and she realized that she had never held hands with a guy before. It made her smile brighter. It was somehow fitting, that he would be the first. He was the first for a lot of things, and so far all of them had been good.
Isabella wondered if Nathan would actually want to swim in the ocean. And she hoped he could swim. Most people didn't like to swim in the ocean, especially at night. She wasn't one of those people. The ocean was her safe haven, where nothing could hurt her and she could just be away from everything for a while.

Nathan had the urge to just jump into the water and start swimming around, maybe play a few little water games, thats what they were there for right. He had one small problem though. His body was trying to keep him from severing the contact between his hand and hers. There was something comforting in it.
He decided to go ahead and go for a swim anyway. He figured that she was wanting to swim or else she wouldnt have brought him there. So he did what his body had not wanted him to do, he let go of her hand. He walked, well more like sped, further into the water, jumping under the waves when he got far enough out. He pushed his wet hair out of his face as he looked back at her, waiting for her to join him.
Any kind of fun that they could have in the water would definitely be a way to ease any tension from before. He didnt want any tension between them if he was going to be there with her for two days. The only thing was, he didnt know how much longer he could hold off on kissing her. He had been lucky enough twice already to escape temptations, but it was getting harder each time.

Isabella dove into the water a second after Nathan, and swam easily out to him, then swam a small circle around him. She wasn't the best swimmer in the world, but she was comfortable in the water. She had used the ocean to release all her stress back in Spain. Stressed? Go swimming. Angry? Go swimming. Bawling her eyes out? Go swimming. It was her solution to everything. It relaxed her and refreshed her and gave her strength to continue to face the things that at times just seemed like far too much to deal with, especially alone.
She splashed water at him playfully. Not enough to get into his eyes or anything, just enough to spray him a bit and entice him into a playful water fight. So far, this trip had been amazing. It was relaxing and fun, and she was growing more comfortable in his presence with every moment that passed. Her trust in him was growing too as he looked out for her quietly and without restricting her, and continued to care for her in a completely genuine way.
A small strand of seaweed brushed up against her leg -which felt like a sea monster, but she spent enough time in water to know better- so she picked it up and threw it at Nathan, just to see how he would react to that.

Nathan laughed as Isabella splashed water on him, and playfully returned the favor by splashing her also. It was so much more fun to go swimming at a beach when you had someone to swim with. Any other time he tried to, he was alone, and man was it boring. This was a turn towards fun.
Before he knew it, he had been smacked by something rather slimey. He couldnt figure out what it was for a second, and almost thought it was a snake, but why would she throw a snake at him. "Eck" echoed through the open area as he pulled it off of himself, but it was soon followed by him laughing when he realized what it was.
"Oh you're going to get it now," he said playfully. He swam up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. It was a little trick he had learned a few years before. He shifted his weight backwards and fell under the water, knowing that he'd pull her down with him since his harms were holding onto her.

Nathan's noise of surprise and disgust made Isabella giggle as she floated comfortably in the water. She almost laughed outright, but managed not to for the sake of his dignity. She'd personally never been hit with seaweed, and especially not when she wasn't expecting to be, so she had no idea what it would have felt like to be hit by the slimy wad of weeds out of nowhere. Probably not pleasant. But oh well, he'd live.
"uh oh."
His threat had just enough time to register in her mind before she shrieked and tried to swim away. He'd gotten the advantage with his lunge -while she was floating- and a few seconds head start. So despite the fact that she did manage to make it a few feet, his arms still wrapped firmly around her middle before she could do much about it. She felt him shift backwards, but didn't realize what he was doing until there was nothing she could do about it except take a huge gulp of air before she was enveloped in water and dragged down by Nathan. She would have laughed, except that would've been a dumb idea since she was underwater.
She struggled momentarily, more out of instinct than anything else, then simply let herself go limp in his arms, enjoying the feel of the water and his arms pulling at her.
