In 1692, the Ipswich Colony of Massachusetts, five families of untold power formed a covenant of silence.
One family, lusting for more, was banished - their bloodline disappearing without a trace.

Privilege and beauty abound at Spencer Academy, a New England boarding school for the region's reigning elite. The story revolves around the Sons of Ipswich, four young students bound by their sacred ancestry.
As descendants of the original families who settled in Ipswich Colony in the 1600's, the boys have been born with special powers. When a fifth descendant suddenly moves to town, secrets begin to unravel which threaten to break the covenant of silence that has protected their families for hundreds of years.

As more and more strange things occur, Calem and his friends gradually realize what - or who - is causing them.
Chase Collins reveals himself as the fifth descendant of Ipswich, challenging Calem to either will him his powers, or witness the death of everything and everyone he holds dear.
On his 18th birthday Calem confronts Chase before he ascends, and a mind-blowing fight ensues. Chase Collins very nearly defeats Calem, but at the last minute Calem's mother, fearing for her son's life, persuades Calem's father to will his powers to his only son.
With the aid of his father's power, along with the newly acquired strength from his 'ascending' defeated the power hungry Ipswich descendant.
Chase Collins disappeared without a trace, no remnants of his body were found.

In 2006, due to the unimaginable amount of supernatural forces displayed on the night of Calem's birthday, Covenants all around the United States, all around the Globe, were drawn to the little town of Ipswich.
These Covenants, unlike that formed by the descendants of Ipswich, were not only formed by mere supernatural human men, beings such as vampires and werewolves formed Covenants of silence of their own.
This year, Spencer Academy has unknowingly accepted a large amount of supernatural pupils, coincidentally all part of the separate secret Covenants.
