General Characteristics
Name: Adora Sin
Nickame: None
Age: 18
Grade: 12th/Senior
Sex: Female
Gender: Female
Sexual Preference: Bisexual
Sign: Sagittarius
Birthday:[/color] December 7
Nationality: American
Background: American
Occupation: Student
Clique: Skater
Secondary Clique: Scene Kid
Physical Characteristics
Eyes: Adora’s eyes are very dark brown, appearing black at times. They are very large, with long, thick lashes. She has strong, arched eyebrows. She wears makeup most days, dramatic black liner that makes her eyes stand out and seem even larger.
Hair: Her hair is long and thick, reaching down to the middle of her back. It is naturally wavy, but it cooperates well when she wants it straight. She keeps it well trimmed, with piecey layers through it to give it texture. She has never dyed her hair, though she would consider it.
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 103
Build: Like her brother, Adora is delicately built, with slim hips and small shoulders. She is very thin, and near to being dangerously underweight. She has no trouble keeping her stomach flat, but only because she is so thin. Her breasts are modest (she’s a 32B) but she doesn’t really care. Her legs are long, and would be shapely if she was a proper weight. Her skin tone is pale and clear.
Picture:
Voice: Her voice is soft and sweet, pleasant to listen to. It is low in pitch, though not startlingly so. She is a very talented singer, but the only person she will sing for is Jayce, and only when he asks her to. Her voice is the type of voice that, though not strong, commands the attention of all those around her.
Clothing: Adora loves clothes. She loves colours, and experiments with her clothing a lot. She steals bits and pieces of every trend imaginable, and mixes them up in a way that somehow, she can pull off, when it would be garish on anyone else. She loves skirts and flirty tops, as well as bold patterns and fishnet stockings, of course.
Accessories: Adora loves accessories as much as she loves clothes. Big, bright, garish, and unexpected are the key words. Earrings and bracelets abound, and she has huge boxes full of them, sorted according to colour.
Other: There are a few scars on Adora’s body, none of which she knows how she got.
Health Problems / Medical Info: critically underweight. Mild case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Strengths: Singing is Adora’s chief physical strength. She is a decent runner, and okay at swimming. Grace and good posture come naturally to her, and she is a good dancer (for someone who has had no training at it). That said, she has boundless amounts of energy, and as long as she’s not putting undue strain on her body, she seems to never tire. She rarely (if ever) gets sick.
Weaknesses: Adora’s body is not strong or fit. Lifting heavy materials, along with prolonged strenuous activity are not things she’s good at. She has trouble passing gym classes because she gets tired easily when forced to work her body hard. Drawing and any form of art is very hard for her, and she would not take an art class if you paid her to do so.
Mental Characteristics
Outer Personality: Adora is the picture of happiness. She can come across as almost simple-minded, though the opposite is true. On the surface, she seems to be constantly bubbly and having fun, just loving whatever it is she happens to be doing, and whoever she happens to see. If you were to look only a tiny bit deeper, you would discover a startling sense of tragedy and loss to her, even amidst the smiles and laughter. Tragedy almost permeates everything she says and does, although she herself rarely notices this. She is very energetic and enthusiastic, treating most things as if they’re a marvellous game. She revels in beauty, and notices all of the little things that are somehow so magical. She’s friendly and outgoing, very loving, but gets impatient easily. She doesn’t like to sit still, always wants to be moving around or doing something. She very very rarely loses her temper, and even her family would say that they’ve only seen it happen once or twice in all her life. Although she seems so loving and happy, and she treats everyone like her best friend ever, once they have time to reflect on it, most people could say that it almost seems as if she’s holding back.
Inner Personality: Adora is a very fragile girl. She trusts no one except her brother, and loves no one except her brother. She is easily scared, and unconsciously pushes people away while seeming to draw them in close. She has dark secrets that are locked so deep that even she doesn’t know what they are, but she guards them fiercely from all but Jayce. Her bubbly nature is her defence, and only Jayce is allowed to see inside. She has many friends, but none of them really know her at all. She is easily saddened, and cries often, though she doesn’t know why. Physical affection frightens her, and she hates being touched (Jayce being the exception to this as well). Her self esteem is frighteningly low. Beneath all of this lies a keen and startling intelligence and awareness that her surface personality doesn’t do justice to.
Likes: She is an adrenaline addict. Anything that will get her heart racing, she loves. She also has an enormous sweet tooth, and will be your friend forever if you bring her chocolate, candy, or pastries (but orange lollipops are the best). She likes being outside, and likes having people to talk to. She enjoys schoolwork, especially math, and also loves crossword puzzles. Her favourite music is anything loud, usually goth-rock. She also has a love of classical music and jazz music though, and almost always needs some sort of music playing to help her sleep. Her favourite colours are yellow and lime green, with red as a close second.
Dislikes: She hates being made to sit still. The dark makes her nervous and she sleeps with a nightlight on. She also gets nervous in small spaces, and she hates crowds. Lineups make her impatient, and she avoids them as much as she can. She hates the colour white, and refuses to wear it (it’s okay in patterns, but not by itself). She refuses to eat fish in any form, and meat makes her get sick, so she doesn’t eat that either. She hates prying people who try to dig into her secrets.
Strengths: Mentally, Adora is very unstable. She is extremely intelligent and quick witted, but it rarely shows. Her emotions are very fragile, as is her ego and her confidence, but she is adept at covering it all up with a smile. She is good at school, and especially math classes. She is good at seeing the bright side of things, even if there isn’t always one to be seen.
Weaknesses: Though she’s good at pretending to be happy, she isn’t good at keeping her emotions in check. She has extreme confidence issues, and once her confidence takes a hit, it spirals downwards out of control, and the only person who can stop it is Jayce. Trust is a huge issue for her, as most people frighten her at least a little bit. Concentrating on one thing for a long time is difficult for her.
Hobbies: Going for walks is one of her favourite pastimes, as is shopping. She enjoys –and is fairly good at- altering her own clothes to make them unique. She likes to swim. She can often be found at a café, sitting with a latte and just watching the people go by. She has a bad habit of getting blindingly drunk when she’s depressed and Jayce isn’t there to stop her.
Fears: Adora has a lot of fears, and she doesn’t understand any of them. She fears her father, and most other grown men. She fears people in general. She fears closeness. She fears the secrets inside her. She fears the things Jayce knows but won’t tell her. She fears being unhappy. She fears being weak. She fears the dark.
Background Information
Family:
Priscilla Sin: Mother
Brice Sin: Father
Jayce Sin: Twin Brother
History:
History created by Mark (Jayce), written by me
At age eighteen, Priscilla Sin gave birth to twins, one boy, and one girl. In the world of her dreams, her life was perfect. She had two beautiful children, and a man who she adored, and who adored her in return. But of course, such things are too good to last.
Brice became violent, and he beat her often. She worked hard to hide it from her kids, telling them she was clumsy and fell down. They bought the lie the same way most children buy the lies of Santa Claus and the tooth fairy. That too, was far too tenuous a lie to last. The first time she witnessed her father beating her mother, Adora rushed to defend her mom, only milliseconds behind her brother Jayce. Both twins received a hard smack for their troubles, and from there forward, their lives changed.
Now they were included in their mother’s living hell. Every day of her life from that day forward, Adora received beatings from her father, as did her brother. At night, Brice would make the twins perform sexual acts with him, and with each other. These things confused and frightened Adora, so she held onto the one certainty in her young life: Jayce. Her brother became the person who knew her best and kept her sane. If she was breaking, he always knew. If he was breaking, she knew.
In what would be the last –and worst- episode of abuse, Brice hit Adora so hard she was knocked unconscious and had to be hospitalized for fear of brain injury. She didn’t wake up for a day, and when she did she was confused, and her memory shaky. As she recovered –which took unordinarily long- her memories returned, but there were gaping holes where she could not remember anything except a startling fear.
She began having nightmares at night, that left her shaking and sweating, and she never remembered them upon waking up. The nightmares stopped when Jayce was with her, but when she was on her own they came and left her terrified.
When they moved away and left their father behind, Adora’s sleep improved, but only slightly. She grew up not knowing what had happened to her and Jayce as young children, though she knew that something had. Her grades in school were good, and she made lots of friends –though she always held them at arms length. On the surface, she seemed to have adjusted very well, and no one was the wiser. Except Jayce, who knew her too well. Even better than she knew herself, she often felt.
She wasn’t sure how she felt about going to boarding school, but as long as Jayce was with her, it was okay she supposed.
